Best TV Episodes of 2012

10. The Debate- Parks and Recreation

The Debate was both hilarious and filled with a lot of heart.

9. Schooled- Modern Family

Haley heading to college provides some hilarious moments and some equally warm and sentimental ones.

8. Dead Freight- Breaking Bad

A train heist done right.

7. Q&A- Homeland

Damian Lewis and Claire Danes guaranteed their Emmy’s for next year with Q&A.

6. Unholy Night- American Horror Story: Asylum

American Horror Story is usually just some cheesy fun with a hint of creepiness thrown in but the show reached a new level when Deadwood’s Al Swearengen decided to visit as a Killer Santa.

5. Late Show Part 3- Louie

Late Show Part 3 nicely rounded out Louie’s quest for Letterman’s Late Show job, with amazing cameos from Jerry Seinfeld, David Lynch, Gary Marshall and Susan Sarandon.

4. Beside the Dying Fire- The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead had a mixed season 2 with some solid episodes and some that just was filler, but the season ended on a strong note with Beside the Dying Fire. An episode full of action and emotions and a magnificent ending speech by Rick.

3. Digital Estate Planning- Community

Community has a habit of delivering off-beat creative episodes that do not conform to the usual sitcom structure and Digital Estate Planning was one of Community’s best ever. The Greendale group is forced to play a video game which features 8-bit versions of their characters resulting in a hilarious, warm and charming episode.

2. The Gang Gets Analyzed - Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

It was hard to pick just one episode from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia with other strong episode like ‘Charlie and Dee Find Love’ and ‘Frank is back in Business’ but The Gang Gets Analyzed delivered the most laugh out loud moments of the year. Seeing ‘normal’ people interact with the gang is always funny and seeing them ‘analyzed’ by one by one by a psychiatrist was one of the highlights of the year.

1.  Black Water- Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones had avoided any major battles on screen and fans were worried that if a TV budget could ever do justice to the battle of Blackwater? Game of Thrones answered every doubt with an epic action packed episode easily ahead of anything we have seen on television this year. The episode delivered in every way it could possibly have, epic battles, twists and turns, emotional speeches and a brilliant haunting rendition of Rains of Castamere to end it all.
