Nicolas Wending Refn to helm The Equalizer featuring Denzel Washington

Nicolas Wending Refn is in negotiations with Sony to direct a film based on 80s TV series The Equalizer.

Denzel Washington will star in the lead role as Robert McCall a retried CIA operative turned private detective. Richard Wenk(The Expendables 2) wrote the script and the film will go into production in spring of next year and will be released in April 2014.

The Equalizer ran for four seasons on CBS during 1985- 1989.

Nicolas Wending Refn’s next film Only God Forgives featuring Ryan Gosling hits theatres on May 23.
